South African Labour Law Reports Library

The South African Labour Law Reports Library consists of the following three sections:

  • South African Labour Law Reports Online
  • Electronic Labour Law Reports
  • Labour Law Through The Cases

South African Labour Law Reports Online

The South African Labour Law Reports Online (SALLR Online) reports on selected Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court judgments as well as selected arbitration awards of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and the various Bargaining Councils. In addition, where these may be of particular importance, the SALLR reports on certain pertinent private arbitration awards and judgments of the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court.

Electronic Labour Law Reports

The Electronic Labour Law Reports contains most full-text reported judgments handed down by the Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court. This section is updated on a weekly basis.

Labour Law Through The Cases

Labour Law Through The Cases sets out the key industrial relations and labour law issues reported on in the SALLR in a question-and-answer format. The format is as follows: (a) the questions posed; (b) the cases dealing with those questions; (c) the facts of those cases; (d) the courts' decisions in respect of those cases; and (e) the principle established through those cases.

CCMA Library

The CCMA Library consists of the following two sections:

  • CCMA Rules Online
  • CCMA Awards

CCMA Rules Online

The new rules for the conduct of proceedings before the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (the CCMA) were on 10 October 2003 by the governing body of the CCMA in terms of section 115(2A) of the 1995 Labour Relations Act.

SALLR has published the CCMA Rules to deal with these new rules.

CCMA Awards

The CCMA Awards Library contains all the awards handed down by the CCMA since its inception in 1997. The Library is updated on a monthly basis. Full-text awards are available.
